dear all,
alright, i was a skeptic at first. what was with all the ranting and raving over prison break anyway? how interesting could it be watching men in prison? so, i caught the second episode today. and oh boy, the show is so not overrated. before the first commercial break came on, i was converted. ha.
the show, or at least this episode, since it's too early to say by my standards (i can watch something three-quarters to the end and then give up simply because it doesn't seem worth it anymore haa), is exciting in a different kind of way. a brother who gets into jail so that he can help his innocent brother escape. it didn't seem appealing to me initially, but then the brains behind the 'thought out' escape as well as the projection of a real picture of how the inside of a prison is, is pretty captivating. i don't know how to put it further in words, but if you haven't caught an episode, try to. now i know why emi was addicted to the series. =D
sim wan: you're the drama guru mann. =D the japanese drama that you recommended, one litre of tears, is so far so good. for those interested, it starts off with "nothing special, just a memory of a girl chosen by a special illness." a fifteen year old girl suffers from spinocerebellar degeneration, an illness causing cerebellum atrophy, which is making her body breakdown inside.
before the show proper, the girl, aya, asks the following questions... "why did this illness choose me?" "mum, what do i live for?" "when i imagine about the future, tears start to drop." and ponders "mum, can i marry someday?" based on a true story, it conveys the message that "just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing."
beautiful isn't it?
also, i managed to catch up with lixin and huijia last saturday, and i really missed them. i never imagined how life would be like after jc. seriously. like how we've grown up so fast, as what my mum says when she compares to my sister growing up, and how life would eventually be after a certain point.
surely we have our dreams, but it's sort of weird not to have the friends that's been along with you just not, well, being around you anymore. though we are buddies, we did not choose the same path. funny isn't it? and now, i am, or rather we are, all surrounded by people who chose the same path.
but it's somehow different. it's like the people who probably know you best would not be taking the same route. chemical sciences and tcm, business, law, economics, pharmacy, nursing, arts and social sciences. it's a wild combination eh?
i guess i just wanted to point out how different yet similar we can be.
i love you all my dear friends! a whole huge enormous lot. know that there's someone out there who appreciates and is grateful for your existence! =)
smiles,
soph.
